You are up in the sky, 200 feet above the docks area of Belfast.
This area is former corporation ground, reclaimed from the foreshore in 1795 and fronted directly onto the River Lagan. In 1850, the Graving Dock basin, which includes both graving docks, was extended and renamed Clarendon Dock, after the then Lord Lieutenant. The open dock between this area and the main river was opened in 1851.
Clarendon Dock is now mostly a business park but contains the birthplace of Belfast’s shipbuilding industry.
