Wet Spinning Frame
The original mill buildings have been sensitively conserved and the interiors adapted for modern day use which includes a museum.
Housed within what was originally the wet spinning room, the Museum tells the story of Mossley Mill through a range of interpretative displays, artifacts, images and archival film, presenting the stories and histories of the people who worked there from the 1800s through to the mill closure in 1995.
This region of County Antrim has long been dominated by families of Scottish descent, often engaged in the production of textiles.
In its heyday, Ulster was the greatest centre of textile manufacturing in the world; and by the late 19th century, the term ‘Belfast-made’ was synonymous with the best quality fabrics and threads.
