Former Kitchen

The scorched stones of the large fireplace and domed ovens are all that remain of a kitchen – once a smoky, bustling hub of activity. Imagine the staff rushing from here to the Manor House, struggling to keep their dishes warm on a stormy night.

The focus of the kitchen was the large fireplace on the eastern wall where most of the cooking would have taken place, and an oven was set into the wall of the north east tower.  Several large pots would have been hung over the fire and used for boiling.
